GERARD BUTLER IS HOLLYWOOD SPY'S BEST BRITISH GENT. NEW POLL - BEST BRITISH LADIES PART TWO

I must admit you are some mad, mad and crazy creatures but I still love you. I mean you silly silly freaks have sent almost 2,650 votes in THE BEST BRITISH GENT poll and I don't know whether to spank you all or French kiss you :)
I reckon you have enjoyed the poll big time :))) I promise to lavish you with other great polls in the future as well if you promise to turn out in thousands like this time ;)

Now, the winner was kinda expected - Gerard Butler is HOLLYWOOD SPY'S BEST BRITISH GENT with stunning 1389 votes! Close to the number of all the lovely girls he dated so far :) Why do we love him so much - he's charming, funny, talented, a great guy, often very royal (ATILLA, 300, BEOWULF), sometimes charmingly naughty (THE UGLY TRUTH, THE BOUNTY HUNTER), often dangerous (LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, GAMER, THE REIGN OF FIRE) but usually just smashing dashing (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA). It's our Gerry Berry :) Can't wait to see him as CORIOLANUS, BURNS and MACHINE GUN PREACHER in 2011.

My ladies really like Rufus Sewell, so he took second place with breathtaking 776 votes which would bring him victory in almost any other poll. We love RufRuf because he is always so very genuine and kind, and emits warmth even when he plays villains. He is also often very royal (THE ILLUSIONIST, TRISTAN AND ISOLDE, THE LAST KING, HELEN OF TROY) and we can't wait to see him in some great new film roles.

The young hope from the British Isles, James McAvoy took third place with stunning 231 of your votes. Who wouldn't love him with all of his talent, charisma, peaceful presence and modesty. Admit that you just loved him in NARNIA, that you found him amazing in ATONEMENT, that you believed him in DUNE, that he took your heart away in PENELOPE and that you can't wait to see him in X-MEN FIRST CLASS.

The fourth place was left for a man who should be proud with the 165 votes he got from you. Damian Lewis, one of my personal favourite British actors. He was the star in the stunning cast of THE BAND OF BROTHERS, he was the charismatic and magnetic head of the family in THE FORSYTE SAGA, he was also great in LIFE, DREAMCATCHER, COLDITZ... he deserves lead roles in big Hollywood movies. Do I smell a redhead Bond?

Now, let us move to our next poll. You will have the rest of September to vote for THE BEST BRITISH LADY part two. The first part of the poll was won by her imperial majesty Judi Dench (stand up and bow immediately or you shall be flogged), and the following ladies, the creme de la creme of British acting, are in the new poll, so vote on as much as you like: British rose Kate Winslet (READER, TITANIC, LITTLE CHILDREN), British orchid Polly Walker (ROME, CLASH OF THE TITANS), British iris Helen Mirren (THE QUEEN, CALIGULA), British tulip Saffron Burrows (ENIGMA, TROY), British violet Kate Beckinsale (UNDERWORLD) and British peony Thandie Newton (THE CRASH, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE).

EPICALLY MAGIC TRAILER FOR "GAME OF THRONES". GREAT CAST FOR THE FILM ON CHRISTOPHER MARLOW "A DEAD MAN IN DEPTFORD"

The most anticipated 2011 TV series "Game of Thrones" has just got a new TV spot. This epic saga based on the fantasy books from George R.R. Martin, will depict a stunning mythical land of Westeros in which seven noble families fight for power. The primary families are the Stark, Lannister, and Baratheon families. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard Stark to serve as his chief advisor. Eddard, suspecting that his predecessor had been murdered, accepts so that he can investigate further. It turns out more than one family is plotting to take the throne. The Queen's family, the Lannisters, may be hatching an incestuous plot to take control. Across the sea, the last surviving members of the previously deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also plotting a return to power. The conflict between these families and others, including the Greyjoys, the Tullys, the Arryns, and the Tyrells, leads to war. Meanwhile, in the north, an ancient evil awakens. Amidst war and the political confusion, a brotherhood of misfits, The Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and the horrors beyond. The cast is lead by Sean Bean, Jason Momoa, Mark Addy and Lena Headey. Click on the video to watch the unbelievably stunning, and epically magic short trailer for the show which will be aired on HBO next winter. It seems the visual aspect of the series will leave us absolutely breathless!

A very dashing group of gentlemen will appear in the cast of "A Dead Man in Deptford", a movie about famous British playwright Christopher Marlowe known as Shakespeare's greatest rival. Young Sam Riley will play the writer, and he will be joined by James Purefoy, Ray Winstone, Ed Speleers and Adam Sinclair in this film which develops the idea that this notorious bar room brawler, was also a royal spy for Elizabeth I and that his death in Deptford at age 29 may have been an assassination ordered by the English Secret Service. Great cast, period setting, a mysterious plot, methinks we should watch this one.

SF EPIC "OBLIVION", HISTORICAL ADVENTURE "THE LADY WHO WENT TOO FAR". SUPER STUNNING OLIVIA WILDE IN "TRON LEGACY"

The biggest visual treat for today is undoubtedly the superhot banner from the upcoming sf flick "Tron Legacy" featuring stunning Olivia Wilde in an even more stunning costume as Quorra, the competitor in the game with futuristic discs called Jai alai. "Tron Legacy" comes out this December starring also Jeff Bridges, Michael Sheen, Garrett Hedlund, Bruce Boxleitner, John Hurt...

Walt Disney has hired William Monahan ("The Departed") to adapt "Oblivion" for the big screen. Created by "Tron Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski, "Oblivion" is a graphic novel about a future earth that has been polluted to the point of inhabitability. What's left of the human race lives above the clouds, safe from alien scavengers that dwell in the ruins of a once thriving race. The story revolves around a repairman named Jak who finds himself on a life-altering adventure after he discovers a mysterious woman in a crashed pod. Kosinski will also direct the film.

If you like period adventures you will be happy to hear that the team behind "The King's Speech" is preparing a new historical project: "The Lady Who Went Too Far" will be a biopic based on the book "Star of the Morning"
by Kirsten Ellis which is basically a biography of Lady Hester Stanhope, who was a female version of Lawrence of Arabia. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, the tale will center on the life and times of the famous world traveler and will contain elements of a political thriller as Stanhope traverses through Europe and the Middle East in search of herself. Can't wait to see who will play her!

In my usual INTRODUCING A BORING FILM JUST 4 THE HOT PICS corner, I'll mention "Drive" an action movie about a stunt drive who moonlights as a getaway driver in L.A.’s criminal underworld. He finds himself a target after agreeing to aid the ex-con boyfriend of his neighbor in a job that goes dangerously awry. The only way he can keep her safe and stay alive is to do what he does best: drive. The cast is lead by talented Ryan Gosling who keeps looking better as years go by although he just can't find a decent role, and megagorgeous Christina Hendricks (who is actually the reason for this pic, I mean piece, of news :))

FIRST MINDBLOWING TRAILER FOR SF EPIC "THE PRIEST" WITH PAUL BETTANY AND KARL URBAN

Now, you know how during the ComicCon earlier this Summer I've shown you a very cool ultra exciting teaser for next year's biggest sf adventure "The Priest"? Well, this week the first official trailer has been released showing some mind-blowing action , stunning futuristic apocalyptic sets and a bunch of really cool actors. To be released in May 2011 with an amazing cast including Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Stephen Moyer, Mädchen Amick, Christopher Plummer ... "The Priest" is an adaptation of the popular book, set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. A warrior priest (Paul Bettany) disobeys Church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a beautiful priestess (Maggie Q). The three of them unite together to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped the priest's niece before they turn her into one of them.
When you check out the trailer bellow don't miss 2:00 when you can catch a glimpse of Karl Urban with a cowboy hat who plays a villain in the film, and don't miss 2:20-2:30 because the ending of this trailer is seriously crazy :)

UNIVERSAL BUYS RIGHTS ON STEPHEN KING'S "THE DARK TOWER" FOR A FILM TRILOGY HELMED BY RON HOWARD AND TV SERIES

Earlier this year HOLLYWOOD SPY informed you that Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" saga will be adapted for the big screen. It now seems that after Universal has bought the rights, it will be made both into a film trilogy directed by Ron Howard and into a weekly TV show! When he was just 19 Stephen King decided to write an epic inspired by "The Lord of the Rings" and then he set off writing and publishing "The Dark Tower" over a period of 22 years and the saga today has seven books as a mix of action, adventure, fantasy and western.

The story follows Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers. His world is politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, and it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West but is also magical. Many of the magical aspects have vanished from his world, but traces remain as do relics from a technologically advanced society. Roland's quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be the nexus of all universes. In this world mighty nations have been torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish without a trace and time does not flow in an orderly fashion. Even the sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east. On his journey to the Dark Tower, Roland will meet friends and make enemies and the audience will discover his true mission.

Over at British "Guardian" they are already posing a question on how will the producers deal with the nightmarish jigsaw puzzle of colliding references and motifs, which throws together a bloodthirsty panorama of Sergio Leone-esque cowboys, post-apocalyptic mutants, demons and murderers?
And how will they fit all of that into a conservative US TV network such as NBC when they start making two seasons of TV series to bridge gaps between the films.

Probably the most interesting part of the whole production, at least for us, will be the casting. Imagine all sorts of amazing actors who could appear in this sf saga? When asked recently who he sees playing his characters, Stephen King, joked saying: "The Twilight cast, of course! Just kidding. I haven't got as far as casting in my thoughts, but when I write about Susannah Dean, I always kind of see Angela Bassett in my mind's eye. Mostly I just want good people in those parts".

EXCLUSIVE: FIRST PICTURES FROM "CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER" SHOWING THE COSTUME AND SOME SUPER COOL VEHICLES

After seeing the overly skinny, overly gloomy and overly trashy January Jones yesterday in her first edition as The White Queen in "X-Men: First Class" are you ready for some more really bad super hero costumes? Well, yesterday, "The Daily Mail" has published some secret snapshots of Captain America's costume from the "Captain America: The First Avenger" film which is currently being shot in UK. The first picture shows a stunt double for the main actor Chris Evans riding an army motorcycle through the English countryside and sporting something that looks like a very bad denim suit. Well, at least the shade of brown on his boots and belts is rather nice. Let us hope that Chris Evans will look much better in this suit when he appears in it over at the big screen.
Other two pictures are much more interesting showing some really cool futuristic bikes in silver colour, and a very charming 40's style car.
Starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper ... "Captain America" will come to cinemas in July 2011 telling the story of a young man who enlists in the US army to fight Nazis in WW2 but gets turned into a superbeing in a secret army experiment and thus becomes Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America starts his war against evil as a sentinel of liberty.

IS HILARY DUFF SPIDERMAN'S NEW LOVE? EXCLUSIVE FIRST PIC OF JANUARY JONES AS THE WHITE QUEEN IN "X-MEN: FIRST CLASS"

Now, since I'm generally not a Spiderman fan, this could be the only reason for me to watch the new reboot: the hot new rumor says that super gorgeous and super sweet pop star Hilary Duff could play Spiderman's love interest in the upcoming reboot of Peter Parker's adventures. The rumor was actually revealed accidentally during an interview with Hilary's husband NHL hockey player Mike Comrie. As I said, Duff could be the only reason for me to watch the movie :) If you recall, Hilary was Zack Snyder's first choice for the role of Silk Spectre in 2008 blockbuster "Watchmen" but she left the project because the production took too long. She will also star in the remake of "Bonnie and Clyde" (much to Faye Dunaway's disgust).

Last week I've mentioned how Dwayne Johnson will take the lead role in "Journey II: The Mysterious Island" the sequel to "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" and now they have a great new cast member: Michael Caine will play Josh Hutcherson's grandfather in the film in which Josh will join his stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) on a quest to find his missing grandfather which takes them to an uncharted, mystical island. Michael Caine will apparently have a lot of cool action scenes in the film himself :)

Just e week or two ago I informed you about January Jones, the blond beauty from "Mad Men" joining "X-Men" First Class" and now "Gossip Center" has revealed the first images of her as Emma Frost aka the White Queen on the set of the film. I must admit the costume looks quite cheep and overly plastic (especially the porn boots), but maybe it will look better later on in production.
