The Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2011 began on 24th January 2011. It will continue 4 days. Most interesting during the first day was the Christian Dior fashion show for summer 2011-12. This time when creating his S/S 2011 collection for Dior and John Galliano was inspired by the work of Rene Gruau - a famous artist-illustrator.
The world's leading haute couture week, which had been reserved for dramatic fashion shows presenting out of this-world creations by designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, or Chanel, has added haute jewelry to its roster. The field's most prestigious brands such as Boucheron, Cartier, Chaumet, and Van Cleef & Arpels now complement France's most storied couturiers. This year, runway shows and presentations will run from January 24- 27.
Paris was a fashion extravaganza this week with its Paris Menswear Fashion Week and numerous fashion shows across the city. One of the most anticipated shows showcased the brilliant haute couture collections of renowned fashion houses Dior, Armani and French designer Christophe Josse.
Tight jackets, magnificent shoulders, deep necklines and tailored skirts to the knee were the center of the collection with 1950s flavour. Galliano went all-out for volume, enveloping his Fashion Models in layers of tulle as they flowed down the runway.
The evening dresses are traditionally decorated with feathers, appliques and embroideries. On Monday the Spring/Summer 2011 Haute Couture collections also presented Zuhair Murad, Georges Hobeika, Francois Eymeric, Alexis Mabille, Armani Prive, Bouchra Jarrar, Christophe Josse and Alexandre Vauthier.
